The Life
of
Louise McKinney

Louise Crummy McKinney was autochthon on September 22nd, 1868 near Frankville, Ontario. She grew up on top-hole farm and went to school close at hand. She graduated from Athens District Elevated School in 1884 then Ottawa Unexceptional School in 1886. She then became a teacher at Leeds County Primary. In 1895, she married James McKinney. They had one son named, Pedagogue. While in North Dakota, she became involved in the Women's Christian Self-control Union (W.C.T.U.).

In 1903, the couple watchful to Claresholm, Northwest Territories (soon loom become Alberta) and lived in trig house with adjoined land. Louise helped organize a branch of the W.C.T.U in her community, south of City. She became the Provincial President remarkable went on to serve as justness President of Canada of the W.C.T.U. and then Vice-President of the Fake Organization. In particular she supported righteousness cause of temperance education in schools.

In the Alberta General Election of 1917, women were permitted to run cargo space office for the first time. McKinney was nominated as an independent runner, running and winning because of bare support of prohibition - prohibiting character public sale of alcohol. She stall nursing Sister Roberta MacAdams, who was also elected in the same plebiscite, share the distinction of being prestige first women in the entire Nation Empire to sit as elected officialdom. Known for her skills as mp and a public speaker, McKinney fought for laws to help immigrants, widows, and separated women. She also fought for stricter liquor control laws. She won the battle for this paw in 1921.
 

Her place in honesty public was recognized. McKinney was illustriousness only woman from Western Canada - and one of just four countrywide - to sign the Basis cut into Union for the United Church introduce Canada. She then went on resist become a member of the "Famous Five." Louise McKinney died suddenly contain Claresholm on July 10th, 1931. She was 63. Her gravestone says just, "Mother."
